Top Ten Reasons to Blog
With homage to David Letterman, here are my “Top Ten Reasons to Blog”:
10. You can tell your readers how much more important your life is (and they can tell you how much more they don’t care!)
9. Everyone’s doing the blog thing, and you don’t want to be left out (lemmings at the rear of the pack fall just as far as those at the front…)
8. No one knows if you’re writing the truth or not (and no one cares!…but I digress)
7. Blog sounds like “Trogg” and they sang “Wild Thing” so it must be good (if you have to ask…)
6. You can write in a self-therapeutic frenzy with hopes of finding answers in your readers’ commments (and if you follow this advice you’ll likely add years of additional work for your therapist…)
5. You could be discovered! (or you could focus your energies on Lotto, which has much better odds…)
4. You can find your voice! (and your readers can hope you find terminal laryngitis…)
3. No smarty-pants, college-educated editor to tell you how to write (why spoil what you’re obviously good at?)
2. Fame and fortune will feed your ego (since you’ll unlikely gain either, your ego will probably starve…)
And the number one reason to blog:
1. Chicks dig the bloggers (okay, so most of them will be 14, but technically they’re still chicks…)
